As you may know, 2025 is a big year for Yoga Mandir as we begin our 20th year of practice together since Alan moved to Canberra in January 2005. This is also a landmark year for Alan as he celebrates 50 years of practicing yoga as well as a birthday milestone. To celebrate, Yoga Mandir will be hosting a gathering mid-year that will include talks, asana and pranayama sessions, a large group practice, and a dinner with music. It promises to be a festive time. Please save the date to join in this celebration.
Date: 6-8 June 2025
Location: Canberra
Venue: Yoga Mandir or TBD
The event will align with the midyear Teacher Development and intensive week and culminate in the Specialist program with a focus on the knee. So you may attend the weekend, come for the full week or the full bundle. More details soon. To receive further details about the event, kindly send an email to office@ with the title Yoga Mandir Celebration and we will keep you informed about what to expect in the coming months. If you are interested in serving on the organising committee, please note that as well.

A life in practice
Alan began Yoga in 1975 in Sydney. In those days there were no schools, no yoga mats or many books on Yoga. If you wanted to do Yoga you had to practice. Alan was part of the first wave of schools in Australia running the Newtown Yoga room from 1984-1996, and the Blue Mountains Yoga Studio from 1992-2004 before moving to Canberra to commence Yoga Mandir
Today is a far cry from those times yet the spirit of practice which bought Alan to Yoga continues to inspire students in Australia and internationally. This landmark year is a chance to join us and celebrate this acheivement.

Conversations on Yoga
Also this year we will begin a project of interviewing colleagues from around the world. These conversations will revolve around teaching, learning and the understanding gained from a life in practice. Lineage and experiential knowledge. We aim to record them in person where possible but due to distance some will need to be online conversations. Anyone with recording or film making skills able to offer support, please contact the office
