Celebrating Yoga. O-Week

During O-Week Yoga Mandir opens its door to the public. There are free classes for adults, children and mother-baby, as well as talks and other events.

Yoga Mandir runs O-Week to coincide with and to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Yoga on 21 June each year.

The International Day of Yoga was declared by the United Nations in December 2014, with a record number of co-sponsoring countries.

The UN resolution …..
• ‘Notes the importance of individuals and populations making healthier choices and following lifestyle patterns that foster good health’
• ‘Recognizes that yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being’

The following program of events are scheduled.

O-Week. Free Classes

O-week at Yoga Mandir is your chance to experience what Iyengar Yoga is all about. Increasingly yoga has become like fast food (something to consume in a busy week) and much of the yoga taught today has little to sustain the individual. Come and see why Iyengar Yoga is unique. Why its worth studying through a practice. Iyengar Yoga can change your life!

From the 17-23 June 2019 Yoga Mandir is open to the public. So come and be part of the action. There are a range of free classes throughout the week from Monday to Sunday. Take a class, view the exhibition, talk to our teachers and meet the crew at Yoga Mandir.

Exhibition. Use of props

Presentation topic: The use of props in the Iyengar Tradition.

A presentation of photos and text will be on display from the 17-21 June 9.00-11.30am in Studio 1. The display is open to the public and there is no cost.

Here’s your chance to read about the how the props developed, and to try them out. Get hands on and interactive …

Mother-Baby in O-Week

Come along to our free classes for mums and babies during O-Week.

The first two years of a new-born’s life is full of change and exploration and this period is often the busiest for new parents. Our Mother-Baby class lets mothers bring their babies with them so that mothers can practice together whilst keeping a watchful eye on their baby.
