Learning to be a teacher of yoga starts with a practice.
Training to become a teacher is conducted over time. It takes dedication and perseverance. Developing a depth of understanding and learning to communicate from direct experience is a lifelong journey.
At Yoga Mandir our program to train teachers is grounded in a commitment to practice and is an expression of, and contribution to community. Working alongside colleagues, under the guidance of experienced teachers, day by day and week by week.
January 2026 continues our term based enrolment which includes 2 Yoga Vidya subjects along with regular tutorials and groupwork. From Term 1, our teacher training moves to a Mentorship Model, offering structured study, consistent guidance, and regular contact with mentors throughout the year.
Each term integrates:
- Thursday Tutorials (8:15 – 9:15 am): exercises, adjusting, asana review & teaching practice
- Teacher Development Saturdays: (one per term 1:30-4:30 pm) Yogasana & teaching application
- Yoga Studies Saturdays: (one per term 1:30 – 4:30 pm) philosophical & experiential study
- Reflective Practice Fridays (7:30 pm): two per term – one talk & one Pranayama
- Weekly asana classes
- Weekly assisting in classes
- Two mentor meetings per term
- Enrolment in the Yoga Vidya online Theory Teaching Module
- Online study via Yoga Vidya in Theory & Philosophy, Teaching Methodology, and Pranayama, assessed through participation and forum engagement

The cost per term is $890 and term dates, attendance weeks and enrolment dates are listed on the Teacher Development page noted below. Yoga Vidya subjects are for lifetime access and are an invaluable resource to the voices of our lineage.
Intake for our Teacher Training mentorship takes place twice per year in January and July
