Darryl’s interest in Yoga as a way of life deepened around 2003, in Perth WA, long after he and his family had migrated to Australia. He started to practice more seriously and completed his preliminary teacher training with Alan Goode. He has been teaching at Yoga Mandir Institute since he completed teacher certification (2011).
Darryl continues his professional teacher development with Alan Goode and he has visited Pune several times, often to learn about its rich Maratha history and its experience of Colonialism. He attended the RIMYI in 2015. Darryl has tertiary qualifications in business, history, social sciences and photography.
Before he retired, as an employee, Darryl had wide experience in the Australian Public Service with several agencies and spent significant periods of time working away from Canberra. After leaving the APS he worked for himself as an executive coach and facilitator. He has an ongoing practical interest in yoga as a way of life. Darryl’s view of Yoga philosophy and practice is that together they provide a universal and proven guide for a good society and a good life for an individual. His other interests include Ayurveda, history, philosophy and photography.
